I’m sitting at gate D39 in Terminal 1 at Pearson International Airport. Air Canada flight 153 is boarding soon to take me to Vancouver today.
It’s been a heck of a long training journey to get to this point, but here I am, ready to run marathon number seven.
As with all marathons, the critical part of training was in the early weeks. I chose to run five days a week in January and February to be sure that I had the strength in my legs to handle the quick ramp up in weekly mileage that comes with the marathon training schedule.
That served me well and I stayed injury-free and got myself to this point ready to race.
Goals and Strategy
It’s a four-and-a-half hour flight from Toronto to Vancouver, so that will give me some time to think about goals, and strategy leading up to the race on Sunday. It looks like race day will be rainy in Vancouver so that’s one thing to consider. If it does rain, I’ll be extra glad that I opted to buy the Platinum Package that affords me a tent area at the start line where I can stay warm and dry.
